Week 79: Final Words

This will be the last email home as she will be packing on Monday, traveling to the mission home and flying out on Tuesday for her trip home.  She will be arriving at the St. George Airport at 5:30 pm on Wednesday.  If you can attend, we would be happy to see you there to welcome her home.

My dearest friends and family... and fans (;( just kiddin)

Now, I have never been good at giving "last words" even though throughout my mission I have heard many, some from leaving companions, mission friends, and even a mission president.

It might just be easier to copy theirs.

But for the sake of honesty, and intergrity, and every other attribute that is expected to be learned in the mission, I will give a shot at my own.

This past year and a half has been the biggest challenge, yet the biggest blessing in my life. There are not words (in english or in spanish) to describe what a blessing it is to be set apart from the world to serve the Lord.

In my mission, I have learned many things, mostly through experience, and having to rely solely on the tender mercies of the Lord.

I learned: (Top 10)

1. What it really means to have faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ.

2. To have a love for The Book of Mormon, and to really SEARCH the
scriptures.

3. That obedience brings blessings, but EXACT obedience brings miracles.

4. What it really means to sustain our leaders.

5. Change is a blessing, and it gives us a greater chance to become who
the Lord wants us to be.

6. How to really use and come the appreciate the Atonement of my Savior,
Jesus Christ.

7. To have charity, the pure LOVE of Christ, and what it really means.

8. To serve with all my HEART, MIGHT, MIND, and STRENGTH.

9. What it feels like to have a personal relationship with God, and the
power of prayer.

10. A little more of what Jesus Christ really did when he said "Not my will,
but thine, be done."

One of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon is found in Alma 26
which says:

9 For if we had not come up out of the land, these our dearly beloved brethren, who have so dearly beloved us, would still have been racked with hatred against us, yea, and they would also have been strangers to God.

10 And it came to pass that when Ammon had said these words, his brother Aaron rebuked him saying:  Ammon, I fear that thy joy doth carry thee away into boasting.

11 But Ammon said unto him:  I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise His name forever.

13 Behold, how many thousands of our brethren has He loosed from the pains of hell; and they are brought to sing redeeming love, and this because of the power of his word of his word which is in us, therefore have we not great reason to rejoice?

14 Yea, we have reason to praise him forever, for he is the Most High God, and has loosed our brethren from the chains of hell.

15 Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting darkness and destruction; but behold, he has brought them into his everlasting light, yea, into everlasting salvation; and they are encircled about with the matchless bounty of his love; yea, and we have been the instruments in his hands of doing this great and marvelous work.

16 Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever.  Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord?  Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men?  Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.  And neither can I.  I cannot say even the smallest part of what I feel.

But I DO know, that this is the true church of Jesus Christ.  That the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that it will lead and guide us in this world of uncertainty, that Joseph Smith, sacrificed everything only because he KNEW this was and still is true. I know that my Savior LIVES!

The biggest and greatest lesson I learned from my mission is who I am. Not only who I am, but who we all really are, and the true and grand purpose of this life.

I know that my mission is never over, in fact, I know that this is only the beginning. I will forever serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I love you all, and my gratitude for all of your love, and letters, is greater than I can express.

God be with you til we meet again!

Love forever, Hermana Watt

Week 76: Baptism, New Mission President

For starters, I just want to let you all know that I got to see fireworks on the fourth of July too! Didn´t miss a thing! As you may know, we have a new mission president, who happens to love football, and gave all the missionaries permission to see the "Copa America" which is a soccer competition of all South America. The finals were Chile vs. Argentina and WE WON! WAHOO! So maybe I saw the fireworks on TV, but hey, it still counts, right?

Second, one of our investigators that we have been teaching got baptized! His name is Martin! He is 9, and so full of energy that he can´t even hold still for the picture. He is crazy. But, it was a really sweet baptism, because 2 other little kids got baptized too (:  Martin is so crazy that he dunked himself in the water before his dad was even all the way in the font. It was hilarious!

We have 3 other investigators that have plans to be baptized this month. We have seen SO many miracles, and I am excited that we see the Lord`s hand SO much in our area. I really know that there are so many people waiting for this truth, and I feel honored to be able to share it.

It is crazy that there are so many changes happening in the mission. It is different to have a new presdient, and to have all of the rules change, but hey, the Lord calls who he knows needs to be here and at the time they need to be here.

I LOVE YOU!!!!

Week 74: Changes and New Area

QUILPUE, CHILE

Quilpue is a city and capital of the Marga Marga Province in Central Chile's Valparaiso Region.  It is part of the Greater Valparaiso metropolitan area.  It is widely know as the "City of the Sun".

THIS WEEK'S EMAIL

We had changes! The most bittersweet moment of my life, but hey, I have to
accept it, right? I miss Illapel and I miss Hermana Lopez, but hey, there is some
thing I have to learn here.

I am now in Quilpue! Just about 30 or 40 minutes outside of Viña. I like it here, but the north has my heart. Always.

My companion is Hermana León. She is super sweet, and I can`t complain. But
I am super sarcastic, and she isn´t. Some thing that I need to change. hahaha. She doesn't get my jokes, and then I feel dumb.  But hey. Only 5 more weeks. I can do this, right?

I feel like I might just die. All this change at once is crazy. But, I am surviving, and just trying to take it all one day at a time. I feel kind of lonely. But, I know that it`s just because the Lord wants me to grow even closer to him.

My new mission president doesn't get here until the first day in July, so I won`t really get to meet him for about 2 more weeks when he comes to do interviews. But when I see him, I will let you know how it goes (: He seems like a nice guy.

Hermana Evans, Hermana Hansen, Hermana Morris and I all got realeased as leaders. And a few other hermanas. So the mission has a whole new set of
leaders, and GUESS WHAT? My hermana lider is HERMANA ANDRADE! I will get to spend a day with her! The Lord blesses us in small ways.

I should get my coming home packet in a few weeks and it will have all of my flight information and every thing like that. I will keep you updated. But, they should also send it to you. So keep an eye out (: But it is normal
that it hasn`t come yet. It will take a few weeks I think.

Sometimes I don`t know what or how to feel, or what or  how to think. IT IS CRAZY. It doesn`t  even feel real.

The girls look so good as pioneers! Did they love it?  I wish I could have gone :( Maybe one day I will be able to! They look like they had fun (:

How is my homecoming going to be? Is it a lot of people or just the fam? Just so I can know and be prepared!

I love you!

Week 73: Zone Conference

39 MORE DAYS!!!  (AS OF JUNE 19)

An email sent to her mom Amber on June 15th.

I think it might be safe to say that I am freaking out. The truth is that in
2 days we have changes. What does that mean? That there is only 6 WEEKS left in my mission, and I have know idea what to think or to do. Part of me wants to just come get you guys and come back here forever. What do you think? haha.

Kadee is the best friend ever. I think that honestly, she will have a straight-way to the Celestial Kingdom without a doubt. Especially for putting up with me as her best friend. Honestly.  I love her more than life, and am so lucky
that she is helping me out so much. But thank you too mom (: You care so much and you have been helping me SO much. You are the best mom
the world has ever known, and i miss you so much every day! I can´t wait to see your face!

(3 days ago) we had a Confrence of Liders with President. It was the last one with him and so he took us all out to lunch at a restaurant with an OCEAN VIEW. It was so stunning, and it made me so happy that we got to spend that time with him and his wife. They are so amazing mom!  We were all crying. He leaves officially in about 2 weeks. It will be bittersweet.

This week is changes, and I already know that I am leaving Illapel, because sister training leaders always stop being sister training leaders a change before they go home. So President told me that I will be going to a new area for my last change. I don't know where yet.  We shall see. I will be sad to leave Hermana Lopez, but happy to go to a new sector.

Our branch is doing well. Still really little. But everyone who goes is so sweet (:

It is FREEZING here. So I might just get off the plane in a jacket and boots. Even though it will be summer there, here I am dying. Yes, the Chileans like to sleep in! It is crazy. They all leave work at lunch time to eat and take a nap.

I LOVE YOU MORE THAN LIFE!

see you before you know it (:

love, kam

Week 71: MY SUNSHINE!

This week's blog is from a letter sent by Kamryn to her mother.

MOM,

It's about time that you got a new phone! (; It is time if you want to be part of the "hip in-crowd". (; haha. jk.  Don't even worry, because I doubt I will remember how to use one. No stress!

I love my hannah! I am happy that she is happy to go!  Is uncle Jar excited that she is going to Canada?

My branch is doing good! The attendance this week was 20. Including 2 missionaries. But, it is good because we have a sweet relationship with all of them (: They are the most faithful ever!

We have some REALLY good investigators, who want to be baptized but
it is hard for them to come to church, because church = commitment, and it is WAY to early for them. So we are working on their testimonies.

I am starting to feel nervous, because the time passes by SO fast. But I really am excited to see the family, and the good news is that the boys friends who have all returned from their missions all still hang out together, and I am sure that sometimes they will let me hang out with them...right? or are they too cool? I don't know. We shall see!  And the BEST news... I will have you, allie, and kadee and ken. So hopefully that will help me!

My flight info should come in a few weeks. I am trying to remember how soon it came with hermana page as I was her last companion. Mom. In a week in a half, the last change will be over. That means I will only have 6 weeks left in the mission. The LAST change of my whole mission. It is sad :( But happy at the same time. Bittersweet.

I got my package with the the chocolate and the cards (: thank you so much!
It made my whole day to get a package!  We have a leadership meeting on Friday and I will be in Viña. So we will see if another package makes it.

I am so sad that I couldn't go on the trek :( I wanted to go so bad. Maybe one day I can go when I am older, right?

Mom, I love  you more than life! Thank you for everything that you do for me (: You are my best friend ever and I LOVE YOU!

49 More Days!
Or 7 weeks!!!!!

Can you believe that there are only 50 more days till Kamryn returns home from her mission?
