Week 48: HELLO!

Hello everyone!

This week was so great! I was so happy to be able to talk to my family, and to see how all of them are doing. We will ignore the fact that I am jealous that they had a scottish christmas...

Just thought I would share a little story with you that hopefully just makes you guys laugh  a little inside. I love being a missionary.

This week we passed by a less active. He is kind of reserved and quiet, but this day was special, because in the middle of what we were sharing he gets up, walks away, then comes back with this huge black case. You can imagine what my thoughts might have been... no one keeps anything in a case like that unless it is dangerous... when all of the sudden he whips out his piano/accordian and starts playing and singing. It was the best moment of the week!!!!

We started the book of mormon again for the 4th time as a mission. Each time, we mark it with different topics (you can find them on the mission blog). It has truly changed how I study, and I ALWAYS learn something different each time. I challenge you all to start the book of mormon over, and mark it with 5 different topics. It will change your life!

I know the church is true.

I LOVE YOU!

Love, H. K. Watt

Week 47: I LOVE YOU!

Hola mamá!

This week has been so busy, but so fun, so exciting, so awesome! I love my area, I love my companion, my district, my zone, the members, the mission, TODO!

ALSO I can´t even WAIT to see your faces in 4 days! I think I might cry. And I think I might accidently speak a little bit of spanish. I have been speaking straight spanish for almost 3 months. I don´t even remember anymore my native language. It happens to the best of us here in the mission. We try to teach the latinos english, and we just forget it all!

4 DAYS!!!! AHHHHHH.

I´m sorry, but we opened my birthday stuff today, because we had enought baptisms as a district to have an activity, and one of the Elders has a birthday on the 27th of January, so we celebrated today as a district and it was a BLAST! Your things were a hit, and everyone told me to tell you thank you! It was like an actual birthday! just a lilttle early. They sang, told me how I was on old grandma because I´m older than all of them, and we played soccer, and watched some good ole church movies. THATS HOW WE  DO IN THE MISH!
I LOVE YOU!

With skype, I am going to sign in on my account (: The president gave us permission to have dinner with the members on the night of the 24th so we have that set up with a family here. It is going to be a GREAT christmas mom!!! Really. I will miss you all though!!!

An early birthday party!

Week 46: Él es la Dádiva!

My dearest friends and family!

I LOVE this time of year. How blessed we are to have this time to remember our loving Savior, and EVERYTHING that he has done for us. What a blessing it is that we have to be able to repent and start over. Because of Him and His great sacrifice, we have the opportunity to change for the better. EVERY single day. I don´t think I have known, or heard of anyone more divine, or more loving than our Lord and Savior.

This week has been amazing. Actually this whole month. Yesterday Javiera got baptized! She is an amazing example and has a wonderful spirit. To see the gospel change so many lives, has blessed me with the the opportunity to be more humble, and completely submit myself to my loving Savior, Jesus Christ. HE LOVES US. Let Him change your life.

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Love, H. Watt

Week 45: ¿COMO ESTÁN?

I love you all!

Maricel, Dilan, and Darinka were baptized this Sunday! (: It changed my whole perspective on the mission to see them be baptized. I realized that really, this is something that will change their lives FOREVER. Maricel bore her testimony after and said "No matter what I do, or where life takes me, no matter where I live, or what I do or don´t have, I will ALWAYS stay in this church." I hope she serves a mission! She would be amazing. Dilan and Darinka are amazing too. They are young still, so growing up in the church will change them forever as well. What a blessing it was to find them. I love being an instrument in the hands of the Lord (:

This week was a blessing, and more and more miracles happen each day. This is the best Christmas ever. (:

The best part is that here, people are using lights, and trees, and there is christmas songs in the stores! And the walmart here is FULL of Christmas decorations. I just want to buy them all.

I´m sorry I am so short on time, BUT I love you all!

I thought I would share this sweet letter from Kamryn to Amber

Hello my dearest mom!

I love you SO much. This week was SUPER eventful. We had stake conference, and the mission president was there with his wife. They both gave really good talks, and talked about how we ALL need to do mission work. Not just the missionaries. We all need to find someone who doesn´t have the gospel, and share with them the gift of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and his marvelous Atonement.

ALSO!

I can´t believe that the time is passing by so quickly. I won´t lie, I have been counting down the days till I can talk to you guys!!!! I am finally used to the mission life, and though I miss home, I am comfortable here. I have learned to deal with change, and completely give all my wants up for a strict schedule. It is SUPER hard, but worth it. I have learned so much and I hope with all my heart that I am a different person when I come home. The best me that I can be. More patience, more love, and more qualities that the Savior has. I promise I am trying every single day to be better.

I have been so blessed to be in an area where they are really celebrating Christmas! It is hotter than hades here, but tons of people have their trees up, and lights outside on their houses. Electricity is expensive here, so not all do it, but some! It makes me so happy walking around at night and seeing all of the ligts (: Also, all of your decorations help me SO much. Really. It makes me feel more at home. My comp loves them too! We enjoy the days in our house with all of the Christmas cheer!

The mission is good. The people here are amazing. I have met so many people, missionaries, and members who have really changed my life. We have good leaders and good members. It is so interesting, because we never really think about other countries, but living in one has changed my perspective completely. Now I have friends from Spain, Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico, Brasil, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and so much more. Really people who I will be friends with forever.

I am a wierdo I think. I just have this love of traveling and doing new things that scare me. But I am so grateful at the same time that this is who I am.

MOM! I love you so much. Every single moment I pray for you and the family. I love you all more than words can discribe. I miss you all, and I promise that everything you do for me is MORE than appriciated. Your name here is famous with my companions and my district because I always try to share what I can from the packages, like candy and all that. I realized I am MORE than blessed to have such an amazing mom who loves me and thinks about me so much. Words can not repay you sufficiently, so I will work my hardest here, and return with honor!

I LOVE YOU MORE THAN LIFE.

¡Te amo máma!

My coming home date is July 28 2015 (: Officially.

Email from a member

Dear Family Watt,

Thank you very much for answering my mail, I hope you forgive me for not being able to answer before, I had some problems with the internet.
His daughter was very happy, knowing that you wrote me; I gave her hugs and love from all of you. She is very good, and again this training a Mexican sister, and also had an opportunity of having lunch with them after the meetings.

Your daughter is very special, and talking nicely your Spanish.
We take care of his daughter and we love.

We also have a daughter in the mission, Chile Antofasta and already has seven months working on site and how important it is to know that there are families who love them and care for them.

We will send some pictures of them we take them one Sunday after the meetings.

With love Maldonado Family

Week 42: HE WILL CARRY US!

My dearest friends and family,

I LOVED seeing the pictures of my Kadee and ALL who were there to support her. I imagine there is NO greater feeling than coming home to all of the arms who helped raise us (;

She is an amazing example to me, and I am excited to see all of your faces again. But right now I am happy and excited to continue strong for the next few months.

This week has been ABSOLUTELY amazing.

We found a 12 year old boy who´s name is Benjamin, and he is SO ready and REALLY REALLY wants to be baptized. But in order to, the parent has to give permission. So we went over, had a lesson with her, asked, and she said YES! That she was so happy for him to have this gospel in his life. We hope through his example, it will change her life as well. He is going to be baptized next Sunday, and has such a strong testimony.

We have a lot of really good investigators and I feel SO blessed to be here in this amazing area (: I LOVE OVALLE!

This week we also moved houses. We finally found one, and it is SO wonderful....
Because now we don´t have deadly spiders crawling around EVERYWHERE. Just look up the rincon spider, see what is does if it bites someone, and then you can experience my life for the past few months living in fear.

But... ALL IS WELL.

I love these scriptures, this story, and the truth it holds and how really we have all ¨walked on water¨ so to speak and we have all had moments where we were ¨sinking¨. But I love what Jesus says in response.

HE WILL CARRY US. We just need to have the faith sufficient to believe that with Him, we CAN walk on water.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Matt 14:25-33

25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Week 41: Service Project

Hello to all!

So for starters, this week Clemente had to have an emergency surgery, so he was gone all week. It made the days a little more dull, but it was still a good week. It really amazes me how much people can really make a huge difference in someones life. He has definitely changed mine! He is the best example of humility, service, and love. And he is hilarious. We call him every day and he always tells us he´s reading his book of mormon! He´s gold.

I find myself quoting movies, and the best part is that even though my comp is from Brazil, she knows everything. And she speaks a ton of English. I just like to brag about her because she can speak to everyone because she knows like 7 languages. 3... but still. More than me! She is the best.

We had a service project this week, and it was weeding. Needless to say the Elders wouldn´t let us do a thing so we just had a blast taking a bunch of pictures with the missionaries in our zone. I LOVE THE MISSION. I never want to come home. Sorry mom! (;

I love my life, I love the Lord, and I love this work. Really I have seen so many things from a different perspective. I wish you could all be here to see the miracles I see every single day!

If you aren´t right now, READ THE BOOK OF MORMON.

They sell so many books on happiness, but it is the only one that holds the true secrets to happiness. TEST IT!

I LOVE YOU ALLL!

Also, someone gave us some cookies, and they are part strawberry, part chocolate. My comp doesn´t like the chocolate part so I came in and saw that she had bitten off the strawberry part of each one and left the chocolate side for me. I DIED laughing. She´s a hoot.

A Lovely email From a Sister in Kam's Mission

Amber,

This is Sister Maldonado from Ovalle, the area of your daughter. We are from the branch of your daughter. She is doing really well. We are feeding her very well here with all of the delcious food here in Chile. We love her very much and her companion Sister Andrade. We are writing this email because if you need to say anything to your daughter, we can be your connection. Today she had lunch with us, and she looks really well. She is an excellent missionary, and she works really hard in our branch and she is teaching us english classes in our branch. We are greatful for her effort. Congratulations for your daughter!

With love,

Week 40: LEVANTAOS Y BRILLAD

My dear friends and family!

First of all, I love you all and think and pray daily for you.

This week was Halloween, and even though here in the mission we can´t dress up, I LOVED seeing all of the little kids here leave and go trick-or-treating. Someone told me it isn´t very big here, and to not get my hopes up, but really I think the Lord blessed me by giving me a little experience of home. It made my whole Halloween!

This week we also had an activity that Hermana Andrade and I planned for the ward. It was a ward talent show, and it turned out to be AWESOME. Hermana Andrade and I did a rap with a little bit of a rap base in the background thanks to members who can use technology (I don´t remember...). Let´s just say we ¨crushed it¨. Thank you Fat Amy.

My life is great. The mission is great. I really am so blessed, and we visit Clemente every day! He is progressing so fast. He always says, ¨You both are my shining starts. I love my Heavenly Father, and you both have changed my life.¨ The mission is worth it even if we can change the life of just one person.

I love my calling, and I love my Father in Heaven. Oh how short this life really is, and oh how we truly need to find what really is the MOST important. We are here to serve God, and if we are making decsions contrary to that of what He has taught, we are serving the other side. It is that simple.

Let us all strive to be a little better.
(Me included)

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Love, Hermana Watt
